For this edition of Pizzeria Press CPA News, I'll be discussing the Water Vikings-SWAT war, dubbed the "Eager Foray" which is kinda lame ngl This war is easily the most interesting thing going on in CPA currently.
On September 27th, 2020, the 25-battle and 33-day long war between the Water Vikings and the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) ended with a WV victory. WV ended up taking 18 of the battles, with SWAT winning 6 and one battle ending in a tie. I had the pleasure(?) of judging 9 of these battles 😑 which was lit. This war was straining not only for the armies involved but also for the CPAH staff, particularly the judges--SWAT and WV are both armies with strong ties within the army community, meaning it was difficult to find unaffiliated and unbiased judges, and with the battles being so important, the judges were under immense pressure to deliver accurate decisions. But, now that it's all, mercifully, blissfully over--how did we get here?
On August 26, 2020, the Water Vikings released this post declaring war on SWAT with troopstealing as the primary reason. SWAT entered the war with 11 servers to WV's 8. The war was very close--although SWAT only won 6 battles, very many were razor-tight. 6 battles went to OT, including one that went to the rare double overtime (who judged that 🤔). Ultimately WV was a little cleaner with their forms throughout (which shone through to me as a consistent factor) and more often than not had the size advantage, especially towards the end of the war, where they closed out by winning 4 straight battles, maxing near 40 for a while, with SWAT topping out around 25 but sometimes dipping down to 15. ![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoyREawsHf9hvIQzjm4lhwEfMIoCPxH6w2M_e6On5NkYBWnIWq1i8ofCBe2ZKHjlL9B0lzNgEz-ncZ2aZNzOpJy22LqpV0tmk4QGCyATZNuEr0EwS_AD4osD2y9g_R4_T4dh75SM_M_Mls/w532-h337/Screenshot_98.png) |

Evidently, SWAT ran out of steam, which is totally understandable; non-stop battling for over a month will tire anyone out. For WV, somehow, it energized them--a little over a month ago, WV was struggling mightily, with a 20+ max a semi-rare sight and almost nearing a small-medium classification. And yet, here they stand with consistent maxes of almost 40. This war catapulted them to excel.
The war was ended slightly prematurely, as SWAT transferred their final 3 servers to the Dark Warriors hoping to avoid a force treaty, where an army can force another army to sign a treaty agreeing to almost any terms once all of their land is gone. However, CPAH determined that since the specific language of the rulebook says "Once an army loses all its servers, they should be forced to sign a treaty," and SWAT technically had no land and was still engaged under a war declaration with WV, that WV had the right to force treaty them, which they promptly did, though SWAT is still fighting to reverse this decision.

This war was the center of CPA news for almost a month, but now the community is momentarily at peace. Who knows what's next?
For now, this is the summary of the WV-SWAT War or "The Eager Foray" from the Pizzeria Press.
